General context

During this training, different aspects of ‘responsible research’ will be discussed.
Bioethics is one of the core aspects of responsible research. It is a very prominent issue in the biomedical areas of life sciences research. For instance, in research involving primary human materials, in clinical trials, or in the use of animals for scientific research. What are the main ethical issues here? How do we deal with them? What is the role of ethical review boards in this area, and how do they function? What about animal research? How do you apply the three R’s (replacement, reduction, and refinement) in animal research?
Also, the ‘broader societal impact of biotech and life sciences research’ will be dealt with. Contested topics, such as e.g. embryo research and the worldwide debate on the public availability of human sequence data, will be discussed.

I would certainly recommend the training to people that work with laboratory animals or human samples because for them, it is a really good and interesting training.

Participant edition 2023

The course presented very important information about bioethics in Belgium that I was not totally aware of and the trainer was very clear in his presentation.
