Project Management
General context
In case the measurements to prevent further spreading of the Corona virus do not allow face-to-face training, the workshop will be organized as an online course on 13 October, 30 October (afternoon) en 16 November (afternoon). The participants will be contacted end of September on how we can proceed.
This program offers a pragmatic approach on project management, and will help you to:
- Gain more control over your project(s)
- Engage and activate stakeholders (including sponsors and international partners)
- Create a more realistic plan, using insights from both traditional and agile planning techniques
- Get more out of status meetings
- Keep the momentum of your project at a good pace
This program takes a flipped classroom approach:
Online learning - 6 weeks
During six weeks before our encounter, you will receive content and assignments on an online collaborative learning platform. These assignments will challenge you thinking about project management, and help you understand the theory behind managing a research project and engaging stakeholders.
You should need no more than 1/2 hour a week for these online assignments
Interactive workshops - 2 days
When we meet, the focus will be on application of the concepts on several real life research projects and on purposefully chosen cases. You will deepen your understanding of project leadership, including how to make a realistic plan for a research project (which typically contains a lot of unknowns), how to engage stakeholders, and how to keep track of progress and keep your sponsor satisfied.
Follow-up - 3 months
The following three months you will receive extra tips and inspiration via e-mail. On top of that, the online collaborative platform will remain active, so that you can continue to engage in conversation with your fellow trainees and with your trainer.
We are convinced that this program will provide you with an interesting learning journey, and that you will feel better equipped to lead your projects to the outcomes that you dream of.
VIB postdocs, staff scientists, group leaders, expert scientists and expert technologists.
- This training is free for VIB participants.
- The course is not open for non-VIB participants.
- Note that upon no show without valid justification a fee of € 100 will be charged and you will be blacklisted for the VIB training program for 1 year. Click here for more information
