Public speaking and storytelling
Public speaking and storytelling
12 November 2026, 9h00 - 17h
General context
Great science deserves great storytelling. Communicating research effectively is not just about data; it's about creating a narrative that informs, inspires, and sticks.
In this hands-on training, you’ll learn how to craft compelling storylines, strategically adapt content for different audiences, and present with confidence. We’ll cover strategies for structuring your message, using visuals that enhance your narrative, and applying public speaking techniques to engage and persuade. Whether you’re preparing for a conference talk, a group meeting, or an industry pitch, this course will help you transform complex ideas into memorable stories.
After this training, you will:
- Identify your core message and structure it into a clear, compelling storyline.
- Use visuals that support and strengthen your narrative.
- Adapt presentations to different audiences for maximum impact.
- Apply effective public speaking techniques—voice, body language, and pacing—to boost confidence.
- Deliver your talk with clarity through practice, feedback, and self-assessment.
This is a hands-on workshop combining short theory bursts with active practice. You will:
- Learn storytelling principles and audience-focused communication strategies
- Create slides that enhance your message
The focus is on learning by doing, so expect to actively present and refine your talk throughout the session.

Other tools are available and participants are encouraged to use what they are comfortable with (i.e. Canva, GIMP, Inkscape, Google slides, etc)
Even though I’ve been presenting for years in different settings, the training still offered a lot of useful insights and practical exercises that helped improve my own presentation skills. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who presents to an audience, no matter how experienced they are.

The training went beyond my expectations. In fact, this the 4th or 5th training I have taken on this topic and so far it has been the most useful one. The format with live exercises was extremely useful.
