TeSS: How can I help?
20 October 2023
General context
This session is dedicated to introduce the use of the TeSS (Training eSupport System), a platform to promote training events and news, and to contribute to a growing catalogue of materials. The training is meant for anyone that is organising events (courses, seminars, hackathons, etc) and creating material and would like to contribute with the platform as well improve the impact of their training resources.
1. To be able to find a training session and training material of interest in TeSS
2. To be able to manually register events and material in TeSS
3. To be able to create a new ‘training provider’ profile in TeSS and to update it
4. To be able to apply the knowledge of a use case on automation with Bioschemas
5. To be able to explain the differences between manual and automatic ingestion
Anyone that being related to training and teaching/learning materials production and wants to increase the impact of their work as much as collaborate with the community.
Trainers
Bruna Piereck
Bruna Piereck is a bioinformatics trainer at VIB and ELIXIR-BE training coordinator deputy. She obtained a Master and PhD degree in Molecular Genetics, with a focus on Bioinformatics from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, in 2019. During her PhD, she had the chance to collaborate with the university of Luxembourg and the McGill university in Quebec Canada for a short time. Ever since she has been involved with teaching and research and Since March 2022, she joined VIB with the mission of teaching and assist other trainers in a variety of topics.
Alexander Botzki
Together with the colleagues from VIB Training and conferences, Alexander Botzki shapes the science and technology training offering in the domains of VIB Technologies, Bioinformatics & AI, Software Development, and Research Data Management. Between 2014 and 2022, he was head of the VIB Bioinformatics Core. From September 2009 to July 2014, he was responsible for the roll-out of E-Notebook (electronic lab notebook) to VIB's researchers within 75 research groups.

During Alexander's PostDoc at Sanofi Aventis in Strasbourg, he executed various virtual screening campaigns on the compound selection of the merged enterprise. He received his doctoral degree with the group of Prof. Dr. Armin Buschauer (University of Regensburg, Germany) on 'Structure-based design of hyaluronidase inhibitors'.
Olivier Sand

Hands-on moment
Bring your material and/or event and let's do it together. The manual implementation can be done for your material with the help of our trainers. After we all have done this we can search for each other's training and also give a go to this practice.
