Lunch & Learn: "Exploring PhD Funding: Where to focus on"

General context
All set to perform an interesting PhD project in the perfect laboratory, there might be one question left: how to secure funding for your PhD project? This training aims to give PhD students more insights on: "where to focus on when applying for personal funding”. We’ve outlined a few key items to take into account when you start preparing a funding application.
Applying for PhD funding means convincing someone that your research is worth doing and paying for it. Key goals for a successful PhD applications are:
- Try to get the attention of the referees by creating an attractive and convincing research proposal
- Tailor your research project and CV to the funding organisation: check the specific requirements before you start
- Understand the review process. Get inside the head of potential funders: What are their objectives? What do they hope their funding will achieve?
The format of this training is interactive and practical. During a lunch break of 1h30 (no lunch included) participants (maximum 15) will receive tips & tricks on how to prepare a convincing research proposal.
VIB PhD students planning to submit a fellowship - for instance, a FWO PhD fellowship (deadline March 1st, 2024).
