Presenting on Stage
21 October full day + follow-up session on 12 November 2024 (1/2 day)
General context
Science deserves a stage!
Are you giving a presentation on a public event, or for stakeholders, schools or colleagues? Are you nervous beforehand? Or do you want to get just that bit of extra flair? In this workshop, you can learn what a good story looks like on a stage, how to interact with your audience, and: you will practice it!
Learn how to build a story:
Learn what story is hidden in you research and take it with you in project applications, articles, and presentations.
Feel confident on stage:
Discover your charisma and learn to connect with your audience
Prepare for your future:
Whether it is as an academic, freelancer, or in a private company: presentation skills can be useful in many professional contexts
During a pysical workshop of one day, Ben Verhoeven teaches you all secrets of an impactful presentation. How can you catch the attention of your audience? How can you be confident on stage? Ben uses techniques from impro theatre to make you interact with your audience in a natural way.
After that, you will work on your own presentation with or without slides, and you will rehearse the first couple of minutes.
But you’re not on your own in the process: you can repeat the most important lessons online and watch some inspiring examples.
And then, it’s time to get real! In a small group, you will gather for half a day for a tryout of your presentation. You lift each other up to a higher level and you get some final tips and feedback from Ben.
